Santa and the Wicked Wazoo

HomePrograms and Partnerships

In the summer of 2000, SLT donated a staged reading as an auction item for the Heart Association's Celebrity Waiter fundraiser. Kathy Jones received the winning bid for that item, and donated the reading to STARC as a Christmas present. Last November, a group of SLT actors performed Leroy and the Ark for STARC at SLT. It was a wonderful program enjoyed by both the cast and the audience.

In June of 2001, at the SLT end of season awards celebration (The "Ginnys"), 2 STARC clients presented the cast of Leroy and the Ark, and SLT with a plaque of appreciation. It hangs in the SLT lobby. It was at this presentation that a commitment was made that SLT would make an annual offering to STARC in the form of a staged play reading at the theatre.

On December 13th, 2001, SLT presented Santa and the Wicked Wazoo.

A hot-tempered leprechaun shows up at Santa's Workshop. He's taller than all other leprechauns, and he wants Santa to "shrink" him. But Santa has other things to worry about. The Wicked Wazoo, a witch, plans to turn the territory into a kingdom for the "Mean and the Nasty". No more Christmas! To carry out her scheme, she invented a Defroster to melt the polar ice. The leprechaun manages to defeat the Wicked Wazoo, and Santa manages to teach the leprechaun to "be himself".
